The San Francisco 49ers lost RB Frank Gore for the season to a broken hip. Gore was hurt on the Niners first series, but returned to the game briefly before he was forced out by pain. He had 5 carries for 52-yards in the 27-6 win over the Arizona Cardinals.
Gore’s replacement, veteran Brian Westbrook, filled in with 136-yards rushing and a touchdown. Westbrook had only nine yards rushing entering Monday’s game, but it looks like he will receive the bulk of the carries with the injury to Gore.
Gore finished the season with 853-yards rushing and 452-yard receiving. This is the first time since his rookie season that Gore will fail to break the 1,000-yard mark. Gore will now have missed games in each of the last four seasons due to injury.
