By the standards Tiger Woods has set, it has been a down year. Many people wondered whether or not Ryder Cup captain, Corey Pavin would make Woods a captain’s pick.
Early Tuesday morning Pavin announced that Woods would play on the 2010 Ryder Cup team.
This is the sixth Ryder Cup team in which Woods will play for, but this is the first time that Woods needed a Captain’s pick to make the team.
People in the golf world have often thought Woods has had mixed emotions or actions towards the Ryder Cup. He had this to say about playing in the overseas match:
“On the road, it’s very different. You get booed a lot, you get jeered, and people say things they probably shouldn’t say. I’ve had that experience and understand how to deal with it and make it a positive thing.”
The other Captain’s choices made by Pavin were Zach Johnson, Stewart Cink, and the youngest player on the team, 21-year-old Rickie Fowler.
The eight Americans who qualified for the October 1st-3rd event taking place at Celtic Manor in Wales are Phil Mickelson, Hunter Mahan, Steve Stricker, Jim Furyk, Matt Kuchar, Bubba Watson, Dustin Johnson, and Jeff Overton.
The American team is defending their win from two years ago at Valhalla and will try to win off American soil for the first time since 1993 at The Belfry.
