For TUF-10, the buzz might be all about Kimbo Slice joining the cast, but has anyone heard about the football team? No seriously. The 16 member cast of season 10 of The Ultimate Fighter is going to consist of Kimbo Slice and four ex-football players. Not just any ex-football players, but NFL-ers, if you will. Check it out; the list includes:
Marcus Jones: 35 years old. In 1996 he was the first-round draft pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His professional MMA record: 4-1.
Matt Mitrione: 30 years old. Played nine games for the New York Giants in 2002. No professional MMA record to date, though sources say he has fought on an amateur level.
Brendan Schaub: 26 years old. Was the fullback for the University of Colorado. He spent some time with (but didn’t play for) the Buffalo Bills. His professional MMA record is 4-0.
Wes Shivers: 32 years old. Played for the Atlanta Falcons in 2000. His professional record is up for debate at this time, listed as 0-1, with an amateur record of 4-0, but is, in some places, listed as 6-0. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see on that one.
Rex Richards, Texas Tech stand-out lineman and Indianapolis Colts practice-squad member, was also supposed to be on the cast, but was injured just before taping and was not cleared by doctors to fight.
Season 10 should be a very interesting season, which debuts on September 16th on Spike.
