Brock Lesnar has once again been victorious in his life. This time, however, it wasn’t on a wrestling mat, in a football stadium, in a ring or in a cage. It was in his own body. Brock Lesnar has defeated a very nasty disease known as diverticulitis. Due to his illness, Brock hasn’t graced the octagon since UFC 100 when he devastated Frank Mir with is incredible strength and ground and pound skills. Holding the UFC heavyweight title when he became ill, fans began to wonder if they would ever get to see Brock defend it. Brock recently made an appearance and has spoken out on his illness and his return to the octagon. Here is what he said:
“I got very very sick, it was a challenging time for me. I thought that my career was ended. Luckily thank God and my family and the UFC, I’m coming back.”
“I’m feeling a hundred percent. I haven’t felt like this for almost a year and a half. It’s just crazy. I’ve had to get back and work my way back up because I lost a lot of weight. I thought maybe… I’d go down to 205 but decided I like steak and potatoes; now I got to eat my roughage too.”
“Listen, when I left the hospital, the next day I was in the gym. I was just doing a little cardio, a little sauna, just to get the sweat going and some weights. I’ve had to work up from ground zero. And I’ve actually had to build my base up again. Now I’m damn near right there.”
“I’m live and well, I’m still the UFC Heavyweight Champion and ready to kick some ass.”
The fact that Brock Lesnar is alive, well and training is fantastic news for MMA fans all over the world. Love him or hate him, Brock Lesnar adds some spice to MMA entertainment and is sure to further promote the sport. I will be anxious to see if he can step back in the cage as if he had never missed a beat.
