People who constantly diet to lose the extra weight usually go back to “normal” after the diet. They gain all the weight back that they had lost. However, a high alkaline diet, as opposed to acidic diet, keeps the weight off for good because it’s a diet that gradually makes your body healthier. Healthy bodies are neither overweight nor underweight, so weight problems with bodies that are healthy are non-existent. High alkaline diets are fantastic for bodybuilders. Here is a guideline to help you work towards a high alkaline diet and a healthy body.
First of all, it’s very important to maintain a healthy pH balance in your body. Ideally consume 80% alkaline foods and 20% acidic foods will keep your pH balance healthy. That way, your body achieves optimum benefits when you eat high alkaline food such as fruit and vegetables.
To start such a diet you need to list out high alkaline vegetables and concentrate on eating just them. Here are a few to start your list: Spinach, lettuce, cucumbers, snap peas, celery, parsley and cabbage are some high alkaline vegetables. Raw vegetables are the best choice rather than cooked or steamed because when high alkaline food is cooked it becomes acidic.
Bodybuilders tend to be very busy people. Taking the time to make a salad for every meal or every other meal is not always available. In order to make time to have plenty of salad for your meals, prepare a salad that lasts for three days in the refrigerator. At each meal, simply dish out a choice salad in a bowel add olive oil with lemon juice. It’s a great pick me up – better than a cup of coffee.
Limit the amount of salt intake or use Celtic Sea Salt, available in most health food stores, is high in alkaline versus regular table salt.
Eat high alkaline grains. Barley, millet, brown rice, buckwheat and spelt are excellent choices. Sprouted grain bread and tortillas add variety to a high alkaline meal.
If you are not sure if you are keeping you body pH balanced, you can check your body’s pH balance by using pH strips, available at pharmacies and health food stores. Simply follow the directions on the box of strips to test your body’s acidity. It’s a very simple tasks.
After making you vegetable list, make a list of high alkaline fruits and concentrate on eating them. Lemons, limes, papayas, watermelons, mangoes and grapefruit are acidic but turn to alkaline in the body.
Even though limes, lemons and grapefruit are acidic fruits when digested by the body, they leave an alkaline ash.
Try to avoid fruit with high levels of sugar like pineapple.
